20 years.......

This weekend, the New Zealand Schools Debating Council will hold its annual National Debating Championships from which the team to debate in Washington DC will be chosen.

There will also be a very special dinner on Saturday night, 24 May: we will celebrate 20 years of NZSDC's existence. Yes, it was two decades ago ( I remember it well as I rest on my zimmer frame....) that we formed the Council, in part to select a team to compete in the first ever WSDC competition. If you would like to wish us well or you have any ancient photographs with which you'd like to humiliate some of our alumni, don't hesitate to post them here or to me at tautoru@xtra.co.nz

And lets all join in across the world to celebrate the success of WSDC over those 20 years, the friendships it has forged, the debates, some simply magnificent, some simply wild, the growth of debating and public speaking organisations throughout the world and the shaping of our nations' future leaders.
